MAGA thinks it is a diss

President Joe Biden has maintained his sense of humor even after dropping out of the 2024 election due to concerns about his age – and the jokes continued at a 9/11 commemoration event yesterday.

He smiled when a critic called him an “old fart” and admitted that he was “slow” now. At one point he even put on a “Trump 2024” hat.

Some on the right, however, believe the joking gesture was actually a not-so-subtle message to the public that Biden hates Vice President Kamala Harris, who took his place on the Democratic ticket.

The viral hat moment occurred during a brief exchange between Biden and a man wearing the “Trump 2024” hat in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where Flight 93 crashed in 2001. Biden gave the man a signed hat while the man insulted him, calling him an “old geezer.”

Biden then jokingly asked the man about his Trump hat and the crowd cheered and told him to put it on.

Biden placed it over his own hat for a few seconds, smiling and laughing.

The whole exchange was divided on the internet. Many praised Biden for his carefree demeanor, while others saw a secret message in Biden’s behavior.

“Kamala did so poorly at yesterday’s debate that Joe Biden just put on a Trump hat,” tweeted @TrumpWarRoom, former President Donald Trump’s official Campaign X account.

“Biden either has no idea what’s going on or he really hates Kamala that much,” tweeted conservative commentator Cash Loren.

“Even Joe with dementia knows how bad Kamala Harris is,” tweeted another X user.

“This is Joe’s revenge on the machine for the coup,” tweeted another person. “Bravo boy.”

Amid all the discussion about Biden wearing the hat, White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates clarified the situation in a tweet.

“@POTUS spoke about the country’s post-9/11 bipartisan unity and said we need to get back there,” Bates tweeted. “As a gesture, he gifted a hat to a Trump supporter, who then said POTUS should put on his Trump cap in the same spirit. He wore it briefly.”

Still, right-wingers viewed this moment as a denigration of Harris and an endorsement of Trump.

“Tell Biden we appreciate the support. We all know he despises Kamala,” responded far-right influencer Gunther Eagleman Bates, echoing comments Trump made at the debate. “You can try to explain it away all you want.”
