Headless body of woman found on Kanpur highway; investigation underway | Uttar Pradesh News

In a shocking incident, the headless and unclothed body of a woman was found on the Kanpur National Highway on Wednesday, September 11. Police said the body was found on the highway near Gujaini in Kanpur at around 6.15 am, reports NDTV There has been ongoing speculation that the woman was raped and murdered, but investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

Report from NDTV stated that even 24 hours after the incident, the identity of the victim was still not ascertained. Since there were no cameras capturing the exact location, footage from a CCTV camera 3 km away showed a woman walking alone in matching attire, police said, according to the report. They also added that three teams have been formed to investigate the case.

According to the latest information, the woman’s body has been sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death. So far, there are no missing persons reports in the district that match the victim.

According to the NDTV A forensic team has reportedly collected tooth and bone samples for analysis.

A senior police official said that the investigation is looking into whether the incident was a crime or an accident. The report also said that attempts are being made to ascertain whether the victim was a local resident or another resident.

Akhilesh Yadav criticizes Yogi government

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav reacted to this gruesome murder and took to X to strongly criticise the state government. He wrote, “In yet another heart-rending incident of crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh, the headless naked body of a woman was found on the Kanpur highway. Morality dictates that the evidence of the ruthless violence and immense physical torture inflicted on the deceased should not be mentioned. An impartial investigation should be done into the suspicion that the deceased was raped and then murdered and the perpetrators should be identified and punished in such a way that justice is done to the deceased and fear is created in the minds of those who commit the crime and oppose the police and the government so that such crimes against women are not repeated.”
