Arrests and charges

Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal were arrested by the CBI on Saturday. Ghosh is accused of financial irregularities and fabricating evidence, while Mondal is accused of delaying the registration of FIR and misusing evidence. Ghosh was earlier arrested for financial misconduct.

Examination details

The CBI has revealed that both Ghosh and Mondal played crucial roles in the ongoing investigation. They are accused of conspiring together, with Ghosh allegedly giving instructions to Mondal on how to handle the case. The CBI hinted at the possibility of a larger conspiracy and highlighted their significant involvement.

FIR delays and tampering with evidence

According to the CBI, Mondal was informed about the trainee doctor’s death around 10 am on August 9, but the FIR was filed only around 11 pm. Mondal’s lack of response during interrogation led to his arrest.

Background of the case

The body of the 31-year-old trainee doctor was discovered in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College Hospital on August 9. So far, three people have been arrested in connection with the case, which remains under intensive investigation.
