Chris Sutton and Kris Boyd discuss the VAR sticking point between Dundee United and Rangers

Chris Sutton and Kris Boyd discuss the VAR sticking point between Dundee United and Rangers

Emmanuel Adegboyega only got off with a booking after a last-minute foul on Rangers’ Connor Barron.

The Glasgow Giants insisted there should have been a red card, but the VAR decided to uphold Don Robertson’s decision on the field.

Outspoken pundit Boyd drew comparisons with St Johnstone’s Benjamin Kimpioka’s sending off during their 2-0 defeat to Hibernian on Saturday.

And speaking to Celtic hero Chris Sutton, the pair came to the conclusion that the Dundee United defender was lucky not to receive another penalty.

“There is probably more physical contact than what Kimpioka was sent off for yesterday,” Boyd told Sky Sports.

“So it’s a red, right?” Sutton replied.

Referring to the St Johnstone player’s sending off on Saturday afternoon, Boyd replied: “You see he’s going to block the ball along the line. I’m not convinced he’s going to touch the full-back. I think he’s going to block the ball along the line and not touch him.”

Sutton replied, expecting a final verdict from Boyd. He asked, “So it’s a red?”

To which Boyd said: “I think that’s a red card.”
