Mannheim – In order to find as many cats as possible a loving home, the animal shelter held its first “Cat Day”. All information for future owners:

The situation at the Mannheim animal shelter is becoming alarmingly worse: more and more cats urgently need a new home. The facility on Friesenheimer Island in Sandhofen is overcrowded for “a variety of reasons,” as the city wrote in a statement, so the administration is now taking a new measure for the first time to help the animals.

One such step is the “Cat Day”, which was launched with the support of the city’s veterinary service. This will take place on Saturday (September 21) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the animal shelter at Max-Planck-Straße 101. Interested parties do not need to register in advance.

The idea: On this day, people have the opportunity to meet cats of all ages and, if suitable, adopt them. The animal shelter staff are available for comprehensive consultations. All cats are already neutered, vaccinated, registered, de-fleaed and de-wormed.

Every adoption helps to relieve the overcrowded situation in the animal shelter and offer the cats a better future. A generous adoption is not only in the interest of animal welfare, but also improves the well-being of the four-legged friends.

If you have any questions, please contact the Mannheim Animal Welfare Association on 0621/316493. Information about the cats currently available for adoption can be found around the clock on the animal shelter’s website.

By the way: From October 1, 2024, a new castration requirement for free-roaming cats will apply in Mannheim, as MANNHEIM24 reports. (pek)
