Teenager shot in Wilton Manors apartment in Broward, officials say

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office are investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager Monday afternoon at an apartment building in Wilton Manors.

Officers from the Wilton Manors Police Department and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, as well as paramedics from the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department, arrived at the apartment building at 403 NW 25th Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a shooting, officials say.

They found the victim, identified by the sheriff’s office as 16-year-old Christopher Granados, shot to death in an apartment building, according to the sheriff’s office, which has taken over the investigation.

Paramedics took Granados to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to officials.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement that “the shooting was contained to the residence and there was no threat to the community.” The agency did not respond to a request for clarification on that statement.
