Prime Video will show Beetz Brothers True Crime from November

In a licensing deal, Prime Video has secured three true crime projects from Beetz Brothers Film Production, two of which now have specific release dates. The four-part documentary series “German Cocaine Cowboy” will be released on November 10th, followed a week later by “Milliarden Mike” on November 17th. The film “Kill My Doppelgänger” will then follow next year.

“German Cocaine Cowboy” tells the story of the rise of Hamburg neighborhood bigwig Joe Marx to the top of the notorious Cali cartel in the 1990s. Joe Marx flees from the German police to Colombia and becomes part of the notorious Cali cartel after the arrest of Pablo Escobar. Joe Marx had already decided to become a criminal at the age of 15 and although he spent a total of almost 30 years in prison, he has no regrets. He returns to Germany with his new partner Doris and considers pulling off one last coup. Producers are Christian Beetz and Georg Tschurtschenthaler for Beetz Brothers Film Production. Directed by Peter Dörfler.

“Million Mike” is about Peter “Mike” Wappler, Germany’s most dazzling conman. The documentary is advertised as a “humorous and twist-filled psychological profile.” The description states: “Anyone who listens to Mike Wappler quickly forgets that they are falling for a calculated and extremely clever conman whose talent lies precisely in making claims look like the truth.” Mike’s narrative is the central theme of the documentary – the viewer is always left with the choice: do they believe Mike or do they fall for him? In a multi-layered crime comedy, the film plays with the gray area between reality and fiction.

The documentary follows his first year in freedom, from his first release to the preparation of his latest coup with the documentary camera. Interviews with those around him and his opponents. The producer is Reinhardt Beetz and executive producer Nadine Neumann for Beetz Brothers Film Production. The director was Ina Kessebohm.

Next year, “Kill My Doppelgänger” will revolve around one of the most mysterious true crime cases of recent times: The young beauty blogger Shahraban is found dead in a car in a forest near Ingolstadt on August 16, 2022. But the body actually belongs to another woman who looks strikingly similar to Shahraban. The police assume that the woman was specifically selected via Instagram and lured into the forest, where she was killed with more than 70 stab wounds. The documentary is produced by Beetz Brothers Film Production with Christian Beetz and Georg Tschurtschenthaler as producers. The directors are Carsten Gutschmidt and Cordula Stadter.
