RAS officer Priyanka Vishnoi was admitted to Jodhpur hospital in September with abdominal pain and was recommended to undergo surgery.

RAS officer Priyanka Vishnoi, who died in hospital, was cremated in Phalodi on Thursday amid a huge crowd.

Vishnoi was admitted to the hospital in Jodhpur in September with abdominal pain and was advised to undergo surgery. Priyanka underwent surgery but her condition worsened on September 6. She was eventually shifted to Ahmedabad where she died on September 18.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and other BJP politicians condoled her death.

The Vishnoi community in Jodhpur staged a mass protest on Thursday following her death, claiming that she died due to the negligence of doctors at a private hospital in Jodhpur. The community demanded a complaint against the doctors as they claimed that her condition deteriorated after the operation there.

According to her family, Priyanka underwent surgery in Jodhpur after complaining of abdominal pain. Doctors diagnosed a cyst and recommended surgery. Her family accused the doctors of negligence.

On Thursday, the community held a dharma outside AIIMS demanding an FIR against the doctors who performed Priyanka’s surgery. A team was formed under DCP West Rajshri Verma, which spoke to the community members and told them that they can file a complaint only when an investigation team submits a report.

After that, a consensus was reached and dharna was called off. Her family members left the city with her body and took it to Surpura in Phalodi, where her in-laws’ house is located.

Priyanka was a RAS officer of the 2016 batch.

Society representative Ramnivas Vishnoi Budhnagar said, “We want to file a complaint regarding the negligence of the hospital administration. Police and administration have not filed a case. The society members have come here (AIIMS Postmortem House) to seek justice. Four days ago, the collector had also formed a committee and ordered an inquiry. Today is the fourth day, but neither the inquiry report has arrived nor the family members have been informed about this report.”

Earlier, Priyanka’s father-in-law Seiram Vishnoi had written a letter to the tax collector demanding an inquiry. Gaurav Agarwal, the tax collector of Jodhpur district, has also directed the vice-chancellor of the medical college to form a committee, investigate the matter and submit a report within three days.

Principal Dr. Bharti Saraswat said an inquiry committee had been set up and would begin its work on Thursday.

Vishnoi Samaj national president Devendra Budia said, “It was all a conspiracy. It has been exposed. The society will ensure justice for their daughter. I demand a CBI investigation. I appeal to the Vishnoi society to fight until our daughter gets justice. So that no daughter is murdered in future.”
